Raymore-Peculiar hasn't had much luck against Blue Springs South recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will challenge the Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. Raymore-Peculiar will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Raymore-Peculiar and Lee's Summit West have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Panthers came out on top against the Titans by a score of 10-5.
Meanwhile, Blue Springs South faced Staley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Falcons. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Kyndall Armstrong spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on zero hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Gillen, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ireland Hart, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Blue Springs South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Staley only posted an OBP of .000.
Raymore-Peculiar's record now sits at 9-2. As for Blue Springs South, their record is now 16-9.
Raymore-Peculiar came out on top in a nail-biter against Blue Springs South when the teams last played on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
