Basketball Recap: Oxnard Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Oxnard, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the San Marcos Royals with a sharp 59-33 win on Thursday. With the Yellowjackets ahead 32-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Oxnard got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Lumas out in front who posted 16 points along with six assists and five steals. What's more, Lumas also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sienna Angell, who had 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Oxnard pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for San Marcos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxnard will face off against Pacifica at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxnard is facing Pacifica at the right time seeing as Pacifica is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for San Marcos, they will head out to square off against Ventura at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ventura will roll in looking for their 22nd straight victory, something San Marcos surely won't give up without a fight.
