Baseball Game Preview: Moreau Catholic Mariners vs. American Eagles

Moreau Catholic has gone 9-1 against American recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mariners will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Moreau Catholic has ten straight victories, American has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Moreau Catholic will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Miramonte, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Mariners put the hurt on the Matadors with a sharp 8-2 win on Monday.

Benji Fuentes and Isaiah Clendinen did most of the damage at the plate: Fuentes went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Clendinen went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Clendinen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Elizarrey, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Meanwhile, American didn't have quite enough to beat Arroyo on Monday and fell 10-9.

Eric Keesis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Dillon Hsiao was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Moreau Catholic pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for American, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.
