Cabrillo is 0-10 against Millikan since May of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Jaguars will challenge the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Cabrillo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Cabrillo took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Calvary Chapel 12-2. The Jaguars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 17-1).
Ethan Flemate tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daniel Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Caleb Amaya also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Cabrillo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Millikan came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Jackrabbits.
Daunte Bell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Shane Walley was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Adrian Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Millikan's record now sits at 18-6. As for Cabrillo, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Cabrillo might still be hurting after the 14-1 defeat they got from Millikan when the teams last played back in March. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
