Softball Recap: Lakeside Wins Going Away Against Galloway

Lakeside came out on top against Galloway on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Vikings blew past the Scots 12-4. Considering the Vikings have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Margo Peller-Morrison made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Sydney Conrad was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Macie Williamson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lakeside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.6.

Lakeside pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Galloway, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Coming up, Lakeside will welcome Chamblee at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. Galloway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
