Gonzales extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-9. They came up short against the King City Mustangs, falling 23-14. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 on Tuesday.
Moises Castro and Noah Villalobos stepped up to the plate in a big way. Castro went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Villalobos got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those runs were Castro's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Arriola, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
As for King City, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-6. Considering they have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On King City's side, Pablo Aguirre-Aguilar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Aguirre-Aguilar has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, King City got a massive performance out of Dylan Conatser, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Conatser a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Axel Chavez-Torres, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs and four RBI.
As of now, neither Gonzales nor King City have any future games scheduled.
