Foothill is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Granada is on a 23-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Falcons will welcome the Matadors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Foothill 2.4, Granada 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Foothill let Dublin stack seven runs on them in the fifth inning on Friday but luckily Foothill prevailed anyway. The Falcons narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Gaels 8-7.
Jackson Hoban looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Foothill got a big performance out of Hudson Flora, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Flora has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tanner Tarpley, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granada). They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 13-4 victory on Saturday. Considering the Matadors have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Mason Ravera looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Mikey Boyd was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Richards, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
Granada always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Granada has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Foothill, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Foothill might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Granada when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
