Conemaugh Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 652nd, while River Valley is ranked 117th).
Conemaugh Valley suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 61-37 loss at the hands of Blacklick Valley. Conemaugh Valley found out winning isn't easy when you make eight fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Conemaugh Valley saw an underclassman step up: Illyana Darcangelo scored 12 points. Darcangelo continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Julia Stiffler was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, River Valley strolled past Portage with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 59-43. The win made it back-to-back wins for River Valley.
Conemaugh Valley bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for River Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
