There's no place like home for the Utopia Buffaloes, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Nueces Canyon with a sharp 62-37 victory on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Utopia, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Utopia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Wiekamp, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Wiekamp has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Dustin Rhodes was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Utopia now has a winning record of 14-13-1. As for Nueces Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Knippa the next time they take the court. Utopia will head out to face the Crushers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
