The Eastern Hills Highlanders will square off against the Springtown Porcupines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Hills has given up an average of 31.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eastern Hills is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Decatur on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Highlanders were outmatched by the Eagles and fell 57-24. The Highlanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-8.

Despite the loss, Eastern Hills saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Christopher Johnson rushed for 104 yards and a pair of scores. Johnson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Prince Hill, who rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, Springtown put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Carter-Riverside 55-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Porcupines' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Eagles are ranked 1141st).
Eastern Hills better focus on containing Kaine Hill and Jon Anthony Lardizabal as the pair were huge in Springtown's win. Hill threw for 155 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes, while Lardizabal rushed for 147 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. What's more, Hill racked up 160.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Another big playmaker for Springtown was Omar Hernandez, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Springtown's run defense was locked in: Carter-Riverside could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Kasen Beaman for the heroic effort on defense: he. Springtown didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 19.2.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Springtown, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hernandez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Springtown's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Eastern Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
