The San Fernando Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the North Hollywood Huskies at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
San Fernando was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Monroe.
Xavier Montano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Montano was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Jayden Barajas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.
Montano wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ray Pelayo, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, North Hollywood hadn't done well against Kennedy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Huskies narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Golden Cougars 5-3.
North Hollywood also got a great performance from Hayden Crawford as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Crawford also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Huskies are 8-4 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.
San Fernando has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for North Hollywood, their record is now 13-11.
San Fernando suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to North Hollywood in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
