Glendale extended their losing streak to 20 on Friday, dropping them down to 2-23. They lost 17-7 to the Hoover Tornados. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornados this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Tuesday.
Jacob Herrera made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Daksh Trambadia, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
As for Hoover, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-16-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Hoover's side, Owen Marks made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Marks has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Alex Weimar was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Isaiah Magana was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Glendale has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 defeat against Mark Keppel on the 4th. As for Hoover, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-6 victory against Santa Clarita Christian on the 4th.
