Foothill is 0-4 against the Warriors since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Foothill Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the West Campus Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Foothill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1006th, while the Warriors are ranked 329th).
Last Monday, Foothill was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-31 to the Nighthawks.
Despite the defeat, Foothill had strong showings from Zeniah Thompson, who scored 15 points, and Joyce Runner, who scored 11 points. That was a full 48.4% of Foothill's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
In what's become a running theme this season, West Campus gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They blew past Johnson 63-9 at home. The victory was nothing new for West Campus as they're now sitting on six straight.
West Campus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Esabel Otsuji, who scored 16 points along with seven steals. Otsuji is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leilani Edinburgh, who scored 16 points along with six steals.
Foothill has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for West Campus, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Foothill took a serious blow against the Warriors in their previous matchup back in January, falling 73-12. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Edinburgh, who dropped a triple-double on 23 points, ten assists, and 11 steals.
