To find out, MaxPreps and Lateral Sports teamed up and found the alma mater of every player on an NFL roster as of opening day (we included suspended and injured reserve players). Then we broke it all down by state and came up with the table below.
You will find that Alabama has sent 68 players to the league this season, and that more come from
Vigor (Prichard) than any other school in the state, with four. Second place is a tie among 12 different schools with two players each.
Want some more fun facts? How about these:
- The AFC North loves Alabama kids. The Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals each have five players from Alabama schools, the most in the league.
- A pair of starting quarterbacks come from the state in the Chargers' Philip Rivers and the Buccaneers' Jameis Winston.
- Davidson High alumni Jaquiski Tartt and Jimmie Ward play together for the San Francisco 49ers.
- Only two of 32 NFL teams don't have players from Alabama on their rosters: Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins.
- Fifty-three different Alabama schools have players on 2016 NFL rosters.
