After flying high against the San Pasqual Golden Eagles last Friday, the Mt. Carmel Sundevils came back down to earth. Mt. Carmel was dealt a 73-26 loss at the hands of Rancho Bernardo on Saturday. Mt. Carmel struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are 1-4 when they just don't pass the ball.
Rancho Bernardo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lindsay Biddle led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Myla Jones, who scored 12 points.
Mt. Carmel's loss was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-13. As for Rancho Bernardo, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will square off against Ramona at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ramona comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Rancho Bernardo on the road again on Wednesday and play against Del Norte at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. Del Norte is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
