The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 43-29 to Overton. Wilcox-Hildreth has not had much luck with Overton recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Wilcox-Hildreth's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cara Bunger, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five steals, and Madison Bunger who scored six points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Bunger hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games.
Leading Overton to victory were Natalie Wood and Jolee Ryan. Wood almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Ryan scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Wood hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Florell, who scored nine points.
Wilcox-Hildreth's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8. As for Overton, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 21-1.
Wilcox-Hildreth is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Shelton at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Shelton's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Wilcox-Hildreth's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Overton, they will be playing at home against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Overton is on a 16-game streak of home wins, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
