Basketball Recap: Independence Sets Scoring Season-High Against Highland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Independence). They claimed a resounding 55-26 victory over the Highland Scots. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Falcons had established a 22 point advantage.

Independence was led to victory by Kenadi Walton and Ka'Rayah Robertson. Walton dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Robertson posted six points in addition to ten boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Robertson a new career-high in steals. Leah Neri also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Independence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Independence is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Highland, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Independence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-17 win against Garces Memorial on the 18th. Highland has also already played their next game, an 80-24 defeat against Frontier on the 21st.
