Apple Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Jefferson Jaguars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
After only 12 points in their last game, Apple Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Kennedy on Tuesday. Apple Valley breezed by Kennedy at home to the tune of 43-7. Given Apple Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Kennedy is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wiliam Washington had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 212 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Jefferson had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven last Wednesday. They put the hurt on John Marshall with a sharp 30-6 victory. Jefferson had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Among those leading the charge was Tyson Schultz, who threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Jefferson also got help from Tevin Ekse who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped Apple Valley to 4-5 and Jefferson to 7-1.
Apple Valley took a serious blow against Jefferson in their previous matchup on October 12th, falling 35-0. Can Apple Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
