Baseball Game Preview: Public Safety Academy Phoenix vs. Mesa Grande Academy Cardinals

Public Safety Academy hasn't had much luck against Mesa Grande Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Public Safety Academy Phoenix will host the Mesa Grande Academy Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. Public Safety Academy has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Last Tuesday, Public Safety Academy came up short against Calvary Baptist and fell 11-6.

Joey Gutierrez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Bennett, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mesa Grande Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Loma Linda Academy on Monday. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Roadrunners recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Mesa Grande Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skyler Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Public Safety Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Mesa Grande Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Public Safety Academy suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Mesa Grande Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Public Safety Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
