After a string of four wins, the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Chaminade 47-43. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Harvard-Westlake of the 63-50 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deana Thompson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Valentina Guerrero, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Harvard-Westlake's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Chaminade, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvard-Westlake will take on Alemany at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chaminade, they will head out on the road to square off against Sierra Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra Canyon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chaminade in California (Sierra Canyon is ranked second, while Chaminade is ranked 69th).
