If the Scotts Valley Falcons were feeling good off their 40-19 takedown of the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Scotts Valley fell 51-39 to Soledad on Wednesday. Scotts Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Soledad apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.
Scotts Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amelia Vye, who scored 12 points. Vye continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Samantha Rebbert, who scored nine points.
Scotts Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Soledad, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Scotts Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Crystal Springs Uplands at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Crystal Springs Uplands presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Scotts Valley in California (Crystal Springs Uplands is ranked 410th, while Scotts Valley is ranked 885th). Soledad won't have much time to rest: their next game is against King City at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully King City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 last Friday.
