The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) girls basketball competition is heating up in district races across six classifications.
Less than a month remains in the regular season before the state playoffs begin on Feb. 11.
Here are a few of the top TAPPS girls district basketball races to track the remainder of this season:
Class 6A
District 1: Four teams have already won at least 16 games in this North Texas district led by the 20-4 mark of
Bishop Lynch (Dallas). Strong contenders for the crown are 17-7
Prestonwood Christian (Plano), 16-4
Parish Episcopal (Dallas) and 16-10
Liberty Christian (Argyle). Liberty Christian defeated Prestonwood 48-43 in last season's state title game.
Game to watch: Bishop Lynch at Prestonwood Feb. 10.
District 2: A good battle for the district title is shaping up with 26-4
Antonian Prep (San Antonio) and 20-5
Incarnate Word (San Antonio).
Game to watch: Incarnate Word at Antonian Jan. 26.
Incarnate Word and Antonian Prep are frontrunners in the TAPPS 6A District 2 race.

Class 5A
District 6: Incarnate Word Academy (Corpus Christi) has the most wins in this classification with 25 in 28 games, but
John Paul II (Corpus Christi) remains in the race at 20-10 overall.
Game to watch: Incarnate Word at John Paul II Feb. 7.
District 4: St. Michael's (Austin) leads the league at 17-8.
Regents (Austin) is 15-8 and
Hyde Park (Austin) is not far back at 13-6.
Game to watch: St. Michael's at Regents Jan. 31.
Class 4A
District 2: Tarrant County foes
Pantego Christian (Arlington) and
Lake Country Christian (Fort Worth) are 12-5 and 15-14, respectively. Lake Country won the state crown last year.
Game to watch: Lake Country at Pantego Feb. 3.
Class 3A
District 7: Legacy Christian Academy (Beaumont) leads the classification with a 24-2 record.
Frassati Catholic (Spring) is having a solid season at 15-5.
Game to watch: Frassati at Legacy Feb. 2.
Class 2A
District 2: Sacred Heart (Muenster) is 22-6, the best record in Class 2A. Red River area opponent
Texoma Christian (Sherman) is 11-7. Sacred Heart was the state runner-up last season.
Game to watch: Texoma at Sacred Heart Jan. 31.
Class 1A
District 1: Wichita Falls foes
Notre Dame Catholic (Wichita Falls) (14-7) and
Christ Academy (Wichita Falls) (14-6) are prime contenders for the district crown.
Game to watch: Notre Dame at Christ Academy Jan. 17.
