Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 27 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact the Escondido Charter White Tigers proved on Tuesday. They put the hurt on El Camino with a sharp 74-54 win. With that win, Escondido Charter brought their scoring average up to 56 points per game.
Noelle Champagne was on fire: she scored 24 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Harper Mowrey, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds.
El Camino's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alana Hoskins, who scored 21 points along with 5 assists. Hoskins scored a full 38.9% of El Camino's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Carter, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Escondido Charter's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for El Camino, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Escondido Charter will challenge Chaparral at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chaparral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Tuesday. As for El Camino, they will head out on the road to face off against Pacific Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pacific Ridge's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so El Camino's offense will have their work cut out for El Camino.
