The Athens Wildcats lost against the Troy Trojans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Athens lost to the Trojans at home by a decisive 55-38 margin. Athens has struggled against the Trojans recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Troy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kailyn Sterling out in front who scored 12 points along with five assists. Alyssa Parks was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Athens' loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Troy, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Pennsylvania (Benton is ranked 546th, while the Wildcats are ranked 570th). Troy's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Mountie at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. North Penn-Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
