Softball Recap: Severance Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Severance had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They blew past the Timnath Cubs 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Silver Knights, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Katie Thomas was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zeta Gattis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alex Avila also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Severance was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. They are undefeated (11-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Severance's record now sits at 14-4-1. As for Timnath, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12-1 record this season.

Severance has already played their next game, a 14-0 victory against Thompson Valley on the 2nd. As for Timnath, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-2 loss against Northridge on the 2nd.
