The College View Academy Eagles came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Hampton by a score of 38-28 on Thursday. For College View Academy, this counts as revenge for the 42-37 defeat the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Hampton still got an impressive performance from Nevaeh Lukassen, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. That was a full 64.3% of Hampton's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Gavin Gilmore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Hampton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
College View Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Hampton, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
College View Academy will take on the Cowboys at TBD on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Boys Town is ranked 277th, while the Eagles are ranked 254th). As for Hampton, they will head out on the road to challenge the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dorchester will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
