The top of the Top 25 Texas computer rankings reminded all why those teams are ranked so high. The state's top four teams — Duncanville, Ryan, DeSoto and North Shore — each won handily, by a combined score of 200-34.
But it was fifth-ranked Guyer that garnered most of the attention from games played on Thursday and Friday.
According to the
Dallas Morning News, Texas A&M-bound quarterback
Eli Stowers scored on a determined 2-yard run on the final play of the game with no time on the clock, then
Michael Mayfield kicked a game-winning extra point in a wild 24-23 victory over Prosper.
Stowers finished with three touchdowns.
Meanwile, No. 1 Duncanville handed Mansfield a 35-0 defeat, on Thursday Ryan (Denton) piled up a 68-28 victory over Centennial, No. 3 DeSoto shut out Lake Ridge, 42-0 and No. 4 North Shore had little trouble with Humble, winning 55-6.

* Parish Episcopal, ranked 14th, fought from a 51-35 deficit with 2:34 left, but got 358 yards and five touchdown passes from
Preston Stone to pull out a wild 58-51 win over John Paul II (Plano), which got 252 yards rushing and four touchdowns from
Grant Robinson. A 25-yard TD pass from Stone to
Nathaniel Hill in overtime won it.
* Ryan scored 55 points in the first-half alone to improve to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in district play with the lopsided win over Centennial (Frisco) thanks largely to the efficient night of
Seth Henigan (12 of 14, 288 yards, four touchdowns).

Dematrius Davis Jr. completed touchdown passes on each of his team's first four possessions, leading North Shore to the lopsided win over Humble. Davis three TD passes of 61 and 23 yards to
Charles King, a 58-yarder to
Shadrach Banks and a 35-yarder to
David Amador Banks scored one of four rushing TDs for the Mustangs, who improved to 6-0.

Quinn Ewers made national news for decommitting to Texas, the nation's top-ranked junior quarterback threw for 284 yards and four touchdowns, leading No. 16 Carroll to a 42-10 in over over Keller. Sophomore
Owen Allen also rushed for 100 yards and two scores for the Dragons.
