Sierra extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. They came up short against the Sand Creek Scorpions, falling 15-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Stallions have suffered against the Scorpions since October 9, 2019.
Sierra saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vivian Valenzuela, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
As for Sand Creek, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 2-9 record. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
On Sand Creek's side, Jaida Moody was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Moody a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Sand Creek let Karalea Evenson and Nazariah Sweat run wild. Evenson went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Sweat went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Sweat a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Bolin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Sierra didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-4 defeat against Gunnison on the 20th. As for Sand Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-7 loss against Coronado on the 20th.
