The Crawford Colts will challenge the Rock Academy Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
While Crawford didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over Guajome Park Academy on Monday. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by eight runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Alejandro Guzman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Alexis Carrillo was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Rock Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over the Knights. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Alec Endicott made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Endicott was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Max Gimbel was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Logan Saathoff, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Rock Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Rock Academy pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Crawford, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both Crawford and Rock Academy just can't seem to miss. Crawford has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Rock Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Crawford might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Rock Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can Crawford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
