After flying high against the Sherman Oaks CES Knights last Saturday, the Agoura Chargers came back down to earth. Agoura was dealt a 65-23 loss at the hands of Thousand Oaks on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, Agoura couldn't push the score so high this time.
Thousand Oaks' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deanna Pham led the charge by scoring 13 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Pham grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Amanda Wang, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals.
Agoura dropped their record down to 1-19 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Thousand Oaks, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
Agoura will be playing at home against Calabasas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Calabasas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Thousand Oaks, they will head out on the road to take on Newbury Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newbury Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Thousand Oaks in California (Newbury Park is ranked 135th, while Thousand Oaks is ranked 430th).
