The Independence Falcons were the  42-35 winner over the San Luis Obispo Tigers when they last played one another  back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Independence took a  40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Luis Obispo on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings  (they are ranked 751st, while San Luis Obispo is ranked 211th).
 Despite the loss, Independence still got an impressive performance from   Kaylynn Bolden, who  dropped  a double-double on 20 points and 10  rebounds. Bolden scored a full 60.6% of Independence's points, the fifth time in a row she's  earned more than a third of the team's points.  Ayonis Killebrew was another key contributor,  scoring 2 points along with 5  rebounds and 5  blocks.
 Independence has  traveled a rocky road recently, as they've  lost three of their last four contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for San Luis Obispo, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
 Independence will look to defend their home court  on Tuesday against Centennial at 6:30  p.m. Centennial is coming into the  matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for San Luis Obispo, they will head out on the road to face off against Righetti at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
