The Redlands East Valley Wildcats will square off against the Moreno Valley Vikings at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Moreno Valley will be up against a hot Redlands East Valley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Wildcats came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Redlands.

Cash Dabbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Redlands East Valley: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.
At the plate, Ty Whittle was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Arthur Chavez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Whittle wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Redlands East Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. The Wildcats are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Moreno Valley narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past JW North 6-4. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Moreno Valley also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: J. Chavez gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on E. Zendejas, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was D. McCauley, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Moreno Valley pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Redlands East Valley, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Moreno Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Redlands East Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Moreno Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Redlands East Valley keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
