The Petaluma Trojans will challenge the De La Salle Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Petaluma 2.5, De La Salle 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Petaluma is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Castro Valley by a score of 5-1.
The team relied heavily on Ryan Landry, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Dalton Deadman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Petaluma kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Castro Valley only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for De La Salle, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Pittsburg on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-5 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.
De La Salle also got a great performance from Graham Schlicht as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits.
At the plate, Alec Blair was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Antonio Castro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
De La Salle has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Petaluma, their win bumped their record up to 20-6.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Petaluma hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like De La Salle struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
