Eastwood has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pebble Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Troopers will square off against the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastwood has seven straight victories, Pebble Hills has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
On Friday, Eastwood beat Franklin 3-1.
Eastwood had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19.
Meanwhile, Pebble Hills came up short against Montwood on Friday, falling 3-0.
Pebble Hills was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Montwood work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-22, 25-19.
Eastwood will have to keep a close watch on Raelyn Shaver and Lauren Velez, a pair of players who had a big impact on Pebble Hills' prior game. Shaver had 28 assists and 16 digs, while Velez had 13 digs and four assists. Shaver is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 11 games she's played.
Eastwood's win bumped their record up to 31-6. As for Pebble Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-20.
Everything went Eastwood's way against Pebble Hills in their previous matchup back in September, as Eastwood made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Troopers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
