Baseball Game Preview: Murrieta Mesa Rams vs. Great Oak Wolfpack

For the second straight game, Murrieta Mesa will face off against Great Oak. The Rams will square off against the Wolfpack at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Murrieta Mesa's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Great Oak. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Cooper Child, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Great Oak off the board. Child also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Murrieta Mesa is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Murrieta Mesa saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Blackmon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Blackmon has posted since back in April. Bentley Dominguez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Great Oak has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Murrieta Mesa, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Murrieta Mesa has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Great Oak struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts.
