The McGuffey Highlanders will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Brownsville Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully McGuffey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.
McGuffey has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. Their rough 65-40 defeat to Waynesburg Central might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McGuffey in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost eight in a row.
McGuffey might have lost, but man, Taylor Schumacher was a machine: she scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. Schumacher hasn't dropped below 19 points for four straight games.
Meanwhile, Brownsville had just enough and edged the Cougars out 40-37 on Thursday.
McGuffey's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5. As for Brownsville, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
McGuffey came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 45-42. Does McGuffey have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
