The Southwood Knights can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-40 victory over Southern Wells. That looming 57-40 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Southwood yet this season.
Southwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Winer, who scored ten points along with five steals. The game was Winer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Maddox Marshall was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Southern Wells lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Perrin Gates, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler Oswalt, who scored 11 points.
Southwood's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Southern Wells, they bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Southwood and Manchester will round out the year against one another at 4:45 p.m. on December 29th at. Southern Wells will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Elwood at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th.
