Mills and Summit Shasta pushed the score to 11-10 the last time they played Summit Shasta, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Black Bears 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Black Bears: they've now won three in a row.

Nate Lafon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Mills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was George Campos, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That run was Campos' first of the season.

Mills picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Summit Shasta, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Mills will challenge Aragon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summit Shasta, they will take on Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
