Helix has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Granite Hills Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Helix got themselves on the board against Santana, but Santana never followed suit. They blew past the Sultans 58-0 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Helix just coasted through the last quarter.
Helix's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryland Jessee led the charge by throwing for 161 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Helix also got help from Jackson Daniels who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Granite Hills put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They breezed by Steele Canyon on the road to the tune of 45-7. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-0.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Granite Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zachary Benitez, who threw for 252 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Brenden Lewis was another key contributor, picking up 130 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Helix's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.8 points per game. As for Granite Hills, their win on Friday also bumped their record up to 8-0.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Kevin Allen iii and Max Turner. Allen iii has put up some stellar numbers this year, and currently owns excellent season averages of 117.6 rushing yards per game this season. For his part, Turner has averaged 87.1 rushing yards per game this season.
Helix couldn't quite finish off Granite Hills when the teams last played back in October of 2022 and fell 46-44. Can Helix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
