The Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Calexico on the road and fell 57-24.
Calexico found their leader in underclassman Dany Carreon, who scored 18 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Carreon has scored at least 25% of Calexico's points. Michael Duffy was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Desert Hot Springs' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Calexico, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Hot Springs and Coachella Valley will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Calexico will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. Southwest EC has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18.
