Jefferson Academy hasn't had much luck against The Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. They put the hurt on the Pumas with a sharp 11-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Finley Stark made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Stark was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
In other batting news, Adrina Arenas and Harper Scott did most of the damage at the plate: Arenas went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Scott went 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two RBI gave Arenas a new career-high.
The Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win got The Academy back to even at 10-10. As for Jefferson Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jefferson Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like The Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
