The Fairbury Jeffs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 35-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thayer Central. Fairbury has struggled against Thayer Central recently, as their match on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Fairbury's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izzy Ohlde, who scored nine points along with three steals. Ohlde is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Evelyn Timmons was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds.
Thayer Central found their leader in underclassman Paige Tietjen, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Tietjen scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Piper Havel, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Fairbury now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Thayer Central, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Fairbury will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thayer Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fillmore Central at 6:00 p.m. Fillmore Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
