On Friday, Fall River didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Placer, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given Fall River's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 602nd, while Placer is ranked 263rd).
Fall River got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hailey Valdez out in front who scored 12 points along with 9 steals. Valdez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylah Darnell, who scored 14 points along with 6 steals.
Fall River's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Placer, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Fall River's road trip will continue as they head out to face Sheldon at 1:15 p.m. on December 9th. As for Placer, they will square off against Twelve Bridges at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
