The Colusa RedHawks entered their tilt with the East Nicolaus Spartans with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. Colusa took their match at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 56-23 victory over the Spartans. The score was close at the half, but Colusa pulled away in the second half with 33 points.
Danica Chavez was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. She hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliah Ramirez, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Kaylyn Ponce and Makinze Massey certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Ponce scored six points along with two steals, while Massey scored six points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, East Nicolaus struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Colusa posted 18 assists.
Colusa has been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for East Nicolaus, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
Colusa's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Honkers at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Willows is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for East Nicolaus, they will head out on the road to take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Live Oak has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4.
