Grace has gone a perfect 7-0 against Santa Clara recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Lancers will venture away from home to challenge the Saints at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Grace took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Channel Islands 7-1. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Alex Van was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Grace is 5-1-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-9-1 otherwise. Van was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gavin Willis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Brady Borgstrom, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Clara). Everything went their way against Villanova Prep on Tuesday as they made off with an 11-3 victory.
Like Grace, Santa Clara also got a great game from a two-way player: Dylan White. Throwing, White pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Lucas Mendez pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, White went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Mendez earned two RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Santa Clara let Jaxx Martinez and Christopher Alcala run wild. Martinez went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Alcala went 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Martinez a new career-high. Angel Fernandez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Grace's record now sits at 9-10-2. As for Santa Clara, their record is now 2-13.
Everything went Grace's way against Santa Clara when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Grace made off with a 12-1 win. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
