Kofa is 0-10 against Cibola since February of 2019 but things could change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Kofa Kings will head out on the road to face off against the Cibola Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Kofa is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
On Thursday, Kofa didn't have too much trouble with San Luis as they won 41-25. That's two games straight that the Kings have won by exactly 16 points.
Amani Montiel continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 16 en route to 24 points in addition to six steals and five boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Kofa's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison DeBoe, who posted eight points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Cibola on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Browne out of the water with an 83-11 final score. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 31 points or more this season.
Kofa better keep an eye on Mariana Vega. She was instrumental in Cibola's win, dropping a triple-double on 24 points, 15 boards, and ten assists. Vega has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 18 times she's played. Jaida Bosch was another key player, going 7 of 14 on her way to 16 points and four steals.
Cibola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.
Cibola is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 51 points. As for Kofa, their record now sits at 8-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kofa has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cibola struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Kofa was taken down by Cibola 69-20 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Kofa was down 46-9.
