Manteca is 2-8 against Kimball since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Manteca Buffaloes will be playing at home against the Kimball Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Manteca focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Manteca posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They skirted past Sierra 55-53. Given Manteca's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Sierra is ranked 500th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jada Ikharo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Michailla Springs, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Kimball, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-40 loss to East Union on Tuesday. Kimball has struggled against East Union recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Manteca pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Kimball, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
Manteca came up short against Kimball in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 53-47. Thankfully for Manteca, Marianthe Tsirelas (who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
