Basketball Recap: Patrick Henry Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ally Mangahis and Honey Smith

Patrick Henry lost against Mt. Carmel back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Patrick Henry Patriots received a blow as they fell 57-40 to the Mt. Carmel Sundevils.

Despite the loss, Patrick Henry had strong showings from Honey Smith, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points, and Ally Mangahis, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Carmel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grace Weede, who put up 13 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Weede has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Issa Desmond, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Patrick Henry's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Mt. Carmel, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patrick Henry will host Chula Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Patrick Henry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. As for Mt. Carmel, they will face off against San Dieguito Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
