Baseball Recap: Jordan Has No Trouble Against Compton

Jordan won the last time they faced Compton and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Panthers blew past the Tarbabes 11-5. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Julian Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Talin Velazquez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cris Aleman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Jordan now has a winning record of 11-10-1. As for Compton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10-1 record this season.

Jordan will square off against Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (the Panthers have four straight wins, the Lancers have three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for Compton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-1 loss against Woodrow Wilson on the 24th.
