Despite the defeat, Santa Clara saw an underclassman step up: Alyssa Olmos scored 13 points. Olmos scored a full 43.3% of Santa Clara's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Briones, who scored 7 points.
Santa Clara's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Clara will take on Santa Paula at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they will be playing at home against Ramona Convent at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ramona Convent's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's offense will have their work cut out for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy.
